We may think about money in many different ways, but rarely do we pay attention to its appearance.

We forget that currencies are created by artists and designers. In many places they are quite colorful, bright, visually enticing; they are, in effect, little pieces of art.

Everywhere, the images on currencies say something about values. Paper money becomes an artistic and historical document. Bills are re-issued to reflect changes in values and politics.

I first photograph small details from a bill. Further work creates the beautiful additional effects of age and wear. The result is a decorative piece that is distinct from, but related to the original piece of currency.
